We’re starting to hear a lot of great information from IDW about their plans to collect and re-issue all the legacy TMNT comics from Mirage, Archie, and Image.   This news broke over at the IDW Publishing Forums late last week but if you want a nice breakdown of the information, Roseangelo (of NinjaPizza fame) wrote up a nice little article that summarizes things.  For me, the best part about this news is that Bobby Curnow stated, “Essentially we’re looking to release everything…”  So cool.  A whole new generation of TMNT fans is in for a wild ride.

I’ve added these planned TPBs to a new section appropriately titled “PLANNED” in my “Upcoming TMNT Comics” list to the right.  There are no new TMNT releases for the new few weeks but stay tuned…I’m sure there will be some new covers or breaking TMNT news to share.

Here’s the cover for the TMNT Archie 100 Page Spectacular from IDW.  Collects the three issue mini-series from the TMNT Archie series.  This is the same content as the 25th Anniversary Edition of the same book published by Mirage a while back (although I think the cover will not contain the “25th Anniversary” stamp).  Available on April 25, 2012.

Here’s the info. on the variants for the TMNT Ultimate Collection HC Volume 1 from IDW.  Collects TMNT Vol. I (Mirage) #1-7 + Raphael One-Issue Micro-Series (Mirage).  Available on November 23, 2011.

2. Limited Edition (Kevin Eastman) - Limited Edition B&W sketch cover (NOTE: previously these were thought to be “Convention Exclusives” available only at the Long Beach Comic Con Oct. 29-30, 2011 and limited to 250.  However, it’s since been clarified by IDW that these are “Limited Editions” with a print run likely less than 500 and available via the IDW web store.)  

11/03 UPDATE:  Previews has now removed the TMNT Ultimate Collection Hardcover from the Nov. 9 date and it has likely returned to the Nov. 16 date as previously scheduled.  However, the TMNT #2 3rd printing remains on the Nov. 9 list.  

Previews is showing next Wednesday, November 9 as the release date for both the TMNT Ultimate Collection Hardcover Volume 1 as well as TMNT #2 3rd printing.  Previously these were both listed for release on Nov. 16.  I’ve updated my release dates to reflect this change and I’ll continue monitoring this (and all other TMNT releases) to see if anything changes.

If all holds to what’s listed, we’ll be knee-deep in Mirage TMNT around this time next week.  ;-)

As an aside, Previews is also listing the #4 10 and 25 copy incentives for December 7 yet the Jetpack edition for #4 is listed as November 23 (which is supposed to be the release date for all editions of #4).  This is odd but I’ll keep an eye on this situation to see what’s going on.  I’ll leave the #4 release date as November 23 for now.
