BREAKING NEWS !! TMNT Micro-Series #2 Michelangelo Global Conquest Edition

Hey TMNT fans!!  I just received word that the TMNT Micro-Series #2 Michelangelo will be getting a Global Conquest Edition just like TMNT #1-5 + Raphael.  Although the Mikey micro was not initially planned to receive a Global Conquest Edition, it’s being created now primarily due to international demand for it.  Since the original Dec. 28 release date was right on the cusp of IDW’s ability to distribute internationally, many international shops never received it.   So, in effect, this is basically a 2nd printing (just like the other TMNT Global Conquest Editions) that ensures the international TMNT audience gets to catch up with the IDW TMNT story line(s).

As for a release date, Mar. 7 seems to be a good bet but that’s not yet official.  As always, I’ll keep you updated if anything changes.

TMNT Global Conquest Day !!

Hey all you international TMNT fans!!  Today’s the day you get up to speed with the rest of us on the TMNT series (if you haven’t already).  The IDW international license for TMNT will now provide you international fans all the same TMNT (IDW) issues that the U.S. fans get.  However, to kick off the international launch, IDW has issued special “Global Conquest” editions of the previously released TMNT (IDW) #1-5 + Raphael #1.  These long-awaited Global Conquest editions go on sale today (Jan. 18) so check your local comic shop for them.  Truly an awesome release day!!

TMNT #1 (IDW) – RI D Covers

Finally!!  Just today I received the last of my long-awaited RI D Eastman sketch covers for TMNT #1 (IDW).  Thankfully, through the luck of the draw, I received at least one of each turtle…whew!!

TMNT #1 (IDW) Makes Top 500 for 2011

Here’s a bit of good news for a non-TMNT release Wednesday…

In 2011, TMNT #1 (IDW) ranked 417 for total quantity and 239 for sales.  Now, of course it’s obvious this is largely due to the sheer amount of variant covers for #1 but hey, it’s still cool to see our beloved TMNT back in print!

BREAKING NEWS !! Multiple TMNT comics delays and delivery issues…

Hey everyone, for the last couple of weeks it’s been extremely difficult to keep track of all the IDW TMNT releases as it seems there are multiple different stories going around about what’s shipping when.  Not sure if this is Diamond’s issue (likely) or something else but I’ve been feverishly researching this and I think I have a good-enough handle on things to provide what I’d call a “90% certainty” update for you on some titles.

CONFIRMED First, let’s start with the TMNT Global Conquest editions.  I’m not sure if you’ve all been in the same boat as me with the recent planned releases of the editions but I haven’t seen a single one of these appear anywhere yet (including in both of my comics orders –  1 state-side and 1 International).  Well, that may be because it seems that they’ve been delayed until Jan. 18.  Again, I have not yet been able to nail down a cause here but based on my conversations with local comic shops the finger seems to point at Diamond’s distribution problems.  Oh what fun a comic distribution monopoly is, right?

Second, both the Michelangelo #2 Cover RI A and the IDW TMNT #4 RI B (25 copy incentive), while already released, seem to be extremely difficult issues to find (especially the latter of the two).  Again, these are both missing from my my online orders and I’ve found only one in my local comic shop.  The cause?  Well, it seems that many of these copies arrived to vendors and comic shops heavily damaged or in extremely poor condition.  As an example of the type of damage…one local comic shop told me they opened their Diamond box and found their only copy of the #4 RI B folded nearly in half and stuffed alongside the edge of the box.  WTF Diamond !?!?

CONFIRMED Lastly, here’s some inside info. that I’m not yet ready to set in stone but all signs point to being true.  IDW TMNT #6 looks to be delayed until Jan. 25 (one week delay).  I heard rumors of this earlier in the week and just today I found a source that confirmed it.  Since I can’t find this change with multiple sources yet we’ll leave this in “unconfirmed” status for now.

OK, I hope that gets you up to date on the state of IDW TMNT comics for the time being.  Have a great weekend!

Happy New Year 2012 !!

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year !!  A very big and sincere “thank you” to everyone for visiting my blog and following me on Twitter.  I’m very excited for what’s in store for tmnt-ninjaturtles in 2012.

2011 was truly an amazing year for the TMNT but I have a feeling we’re in for a great 2012 as well…

Red vs. Colored Bandannas

After reading TMNT #5 you’re now aware of the move to colored bandannas for the TMNT.  I know this is somewhat controversial in the TMNT community but I personally don’t see why it matters.  I think it’s cool either way and IDW handled it well by writing in a story line to support the move to colored bandannas.  I’ve been a TMNT collector for 25 years and I’m sure not upset in any way about them.  Plus, this isn’t a new concept as it is how most of the world knows the TMNT anyway; why can’t IDW inject some new and fresh things?  Mirage doesn’t own them anymore and it’s great to see new life injected into them.  If you think that the TMNT must have red bandannas then I’d like to hear why so I can better understand why it’s such a big deal.

Covers for #7 and #8 by Duncan previously depicted the TMNT with red bandannas but, due to the bandanna color change in #5, IDW will be changing them to colored for release.  Below is the updated cover art for #7 and #8 along with the previous versions for comparison.  See what you think.  I like it.
